Out of favour Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil has been urged to make a move to Rangers this month.

Andreas Skov Olsen became the third Ibrox arrival of the window on Saturday and midfielder Neil is also on the agenda. He has entered the final six months of his contract at the Stadium of Light with reports FC Koln have made contact – while the Light Blues are also said to be ready to make a move.

Boss Regis Le Bris has opened the door for the 24-year-old to leave the club this month – and former Kilmarnock boss Lee Clark has reckons that the opportunity to get involved in the Scottish Premiership title battle could tempt Neil north of the border. The former Kilmarnock boss told BBC Radio Newcastle: “He’s helped his local club get to the Premier League, they’ve shown their hand now that they’re not sure about him in terms of that level.

“He has to go somewhere where he’s going to get games. Some of the clubs being put out there are terrific opportunities.

“I’ve seen Koln mentioned in the Bundesliga, I’ve seen Rangers mentioned. I would imagine there will be a plethora of Championship clubs – but he might want to experience something different.

“He might want to go to Rangers where there’s going to be a title battle up in Scotland and hopefully the opportunity to play in Europe. Scottish football gets a little bit of a kicking sometimes but until you’ve been there and been in amongst it, you realise how big clubs like Celtic and Rangers are.”

Record Sport also understands the clubs are keeping tabs on Hungarian winger Damir Redzic. The 22-year-old is on the Ibrox club’s radar after impressive displays for Slovakian side Dunajska Strada.

Speaking to Nemzeti Sport, the forward addressed the speculation over his future head on: “According to my manager, several clubs are interested in me, but the first step is always to reach an agreement with the DAC.

“At the moment, I am focusing exclusively on my work in Dunajska Strada, performing my duties, and I want to be in the best possible shape until the start of the league in February, so that I can help the team to the maximum.”

Danny Rohl has also been linked with a raid of his former club Sheffield Wednesday for versatile Max Lowe. The Sheffield Star claim that the Light Blues “made an enquiry as to his availability early in the window”.

The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer – and while the report notes a January switch is unlikely at this stage the door is open for an agreement at the end of the campaign. Boss Henrik Pedersen couldn’t rule out an exit for Lowe – who can play on the left side of defence or as a defensive midfielder – before the end of the month.
