The Magpies cruised into the play-offs to inflict a rare away defeat on PSV Eindhoven
Newcastle United made easy work of their Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven to book their place in the play-offs.
The Magpies went 1-0 up after eight minutes after Bruno Guimaraes cashed in on a poor pass from the goalkeeper and slipped Joelinton in. The Brazil midfielder slipped it to Yoane Wissa who lifted it over Matej Kovar to put Newcastle into the lead.
Anthony Gordon doubled the lead on the half-hour mark after PSV played the ball dangerously across their own penalty area and were caught out. Yarek Gasiorowski’s attempted pass fell for Wissa before he picked out Gordon who tapped home into the unguarded net.
Harvey Barnes rifled in the third to put Newcastle into the play-offs with 25 minutes left.
