Manchester City midfielder Nico O’Reilly has praised one of the club’s academy graduates after his debut in the Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield Town.
Manchester City ran out 2-0 winners over the League One side on Wednesday night, courtesy of goals from Phil Foden and Savinho.
Eight homegrown players featured against Huddersfield, with three making their senior debuts for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Nico O’Reilly, himself a graduate of the City academy, was buzzing with one of his young teammates and praised him on social media.

Divine Mukasa, Jaden Heskey and brother Reigan Heskey all debuted for Man City, and all three took to social media to celebrate their bows.
Reigan took to Instagram with pictures of himself from the game, along with the caption: “Debut!”.
Over 100 peers and fans commented, including Savinho, O’Reilly, John Bostock and brother Jaden.
O’Reilly wrote “only the start”, while Savinho posted two applause emojis along with a fire icon.
Who is Reigan Heskey?
Heskey is a 17-year-old City academy graduate who mostly plays as a left-winger, though he can also feature on the opposite flank.
He enjoyed a wonderful season last term, registering 27 goals and nine assists from 41 outings, including three goals and one assist from three Premier League 2 outings.
Heskey has been described by the City website as a ‘quick, powerful winger’ who has developed an ‘eye-catching style of play.’
The site continued: ‘Athletically, Heskey shows great promise and can be a handful for defenders.
‘In the final third, Reigan is dangerous and provides a strong impact on games with a moment of brilliance.
‘He can create and convert his own chances in a variety of scenarios or tee up his team-mates, who deal the final blow.’
Reigan and brother Jaden are the sons of Emile Heskey, who played for the likes of Liverpool, Leicester City and Birmingham City – along with representing England – between 1994 and 2016.
