Dortmund add five years to Rewe sponsorship with ‘Champion Partner’ upgrade

September 26 – Borussia Dortmund have found the recipe for a lasting partnership – and, appropriately enough, it comes via the grocery aisle. The Bundesliga club have extended and upgraded their collaboration with German retail giant Rewe, signing a fresh five-year deal that kicks in immediately.

This marks the latest chapter in a relationship that originally began in 2009, with Rewe now stepping up to the level of ‘Champion Partner’ – a status that will see its branding stitched front and centre on the men’s, U23, and youth training apparel, plus supplying the food at the 81,365-seater Signal Iduna Park.

The deal also widens Rewe’s TV exposure within Dortmund’s commercial sphere, further embedding the brand into the black-and-yellow culture.

During its 16-year relationship with the club, Rewe has become an inclusivity pioneer, supporting family-friendly initiatives such as the Familienblock at Signal Iduna Park and being the has been front of shirt sponsor for BVB’s women’s team since 2023.

The club say that this deal in particular gave Dortmund’s female side both visibility and credibility as it ‘builds its own story’.

Carsten Cramer, managing director of Borussia Dortmund, said: “We are pleased that REWE has steadily expanded its already strong commitment to BVB in recent years. This reflects mutual trust and the belief that through this partnership, objectives can not only be set but also achieved.”

No value was given for the sponsorship extension.

Peter Maly, Board Member of the REWE Group, finished: “Through our commitment, we are continuously expanding our presence in the Bundesliga and are delighted to support Borussia Dortmund’s development in a central role over the coming years.”
