Eddie Howe has offered an injury update on Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento.

The 22-year-old has featured in every Newcastle United game this season, but that run is about to come to an end.

Livramento was stretchered off against Arsenal on Sunday, with the defender visibly upset over what looked to be a serious injury. It is a feeling that Livramento knows all too well, having ruptured his ACL and lost a year of his career when he was at Southampton.

Livramento has not travelled to Belgium for Newcastle’s Champions League clash with Union Saint-Gilloise, and now Eddie Howe has provided an update on the Magpies’ number 21.

Newcastle United do not know how long Tino Livramento will be injured for

Ahead of Union Saint-Gilloise vs Newcastle United, Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media in Brussels.

The Newcastle United manager was asked about Livramento’s injury, but was unable to provide a concrete update on how long he will be out of action for.

“I’m better off waiting before giving any indication on that because that could be a mistake,” he said, as reported by the Chronicle.

Livramento’s injury means that Howe will be forced into at least one change on Wednesday night.

As part of Geordie Boot Boys’ predicted Newcastle United XI to face USG, Kieran Trippier is expected to come into the side.

The 35-year-old was introduced in the second half against Arsenal, and should regain his place in Howe’s starting lineup. His experience will be invaluable away from home in the Champions League.

Howe will be keen to protect Trippier and manage his minutes, as Livramento’s injury is going to result in the Toon veteran having to play more and more. How much more remains to be seen, as it is still unclear how long the Chelsea academy product will be out of action for.

Trippier will be glad of the opportunity, as he has started the season strongly. He is in the final year of his Newcastle United contract, and it remains to be seen if he will stay at the club beyond the 2025/26 season.
