Ian Maatsen is keen for Aston Villa to continue their positive form at Villa Park on Sunday, when they host Burnley in Premier League action (ko 2pm).

Unai Emery’s side are on a three-match winning run in all competitions, having triumphed 2-0 over Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

The Dutchman praised Villa for the way they have responded to a difficult start to the season, admitting confidence in their camp is now high.

Maatsen said: “I think we can build on the two results. It shows that we are confident.

“In difficult moments, we showed we are a team and not willing to give up, and give everything for the badge and for the fans who support us.

“We have to just keep going and begin again.

“Now is not the time to relax, so hopefully we can continue this until the break.”

After an impressive second half performance sealed a 3-1 win over Fulham last weekend, the left-back has called for the Villans to once again make their B6 home a difficult place for their opponents to visit.

“We play at home, we always feel strong at home,” he added.

“It’s not going to be an easy game, not any game in the Premier League is easy.

“We have to respect them, but we’re at our home. We have to show them there’s nothing here for them.”
