Despite the career blip at the Jingshan Open, Eala is widely considered as one of tennis’ brightest prospects.
The star has worked extensively at Rafael Nadal’s academy and the King of Clay has spoken highly of her. After her debut WTA victory in Guadalajara earlier this month, Nadal took to social media to praise Eala.
“Congrats, Alex Eala, on your first WTA (trophy),” wrote the 22-time Grand Slam champion. “I am happy and proud of what you are achieving for yourself and for the Philippines.”
