Opta predicts final Premier League table: Where Newcastle United finish after match week 7 results

Newcastle United have got off to a patchy start in the Premier League this season – but here’s where Opta thinks they’ll finish the campaign.

It’s not been the perfect start to the Premier League season for Newcastle United, but in many ways, it’s been far from a disaster either.

When you take their seven games as a whole body of work, you can easily make a case to say it’s been decent, but look at the results in a different light and it’s been below par.

The Magpies have only lost two games this season – both at home, and both to last added time winners by the top two teams in the country. Both of those games were in rather disappointing fashion, it must be added.

Outside of that, home wins over Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been done with relative ease, but have hardly set the heather afire. And three draws on the road, all with their various merits and caveats have maybe opened up the criticism that the team is struggling to score and create, although Nick Woltemade couldn’t have got off to any better a start in black and white, particularly without the help of Yoane Wissa.

So, with all of that taken into account, here’s where statistic experts Opta tip the Magpies, the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal to finish in the Premier League table this season.
