RANGERS Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Quinty Sabajo on a one-year deal, subject to international clearance and visa.
The midfielder joins the Light Blues as a free agent, having departed former club Ajax at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Born in the Netherlands, the 26-year-old has spent the entirety of her career so far in her home country, as she prepares to move abroad for the first time to link up with the Gers for the remainder of the campaign.
Sabajo enjoyed her early days in the game with local youth club VV OSM ’75, where she played in her hometown of Maarssen. She then made her first professional move in the game as she linked up with Heerenveen in 2017, making her Eredivisie debut a year later, going on to score 10 goals for the club in 33 matches.
After three years there she then made the move to Ajax in the summer of 2020. Making her debut on September 6 that year in a 3-1 success over FC Twente in league action.
The following month, she scored her first goal for her new side against her former club, going on to feature in 18 league outings for the remainder of that campaign helping Ajax to their sixth KNVB Cup success and the first trophy of her career.
The highlight of Sabajo’s club career so far was to come in the 2022/23 season, as she helped her former side to their first Eredivisie title in five seasons as she got her hands on the league trophy for the first time.
She would go on to spent five years in total with the Dutch club, reaching the 100th appearance milestone along the way in March 2025. Coming as a full-circle moment for Sabajo as she reached the tally in a match against her first professional club before departing upon the expiry of her contract with the side at the end of the last campaign.
The new signing has also enjoyed time representing her country at various youth levels, from Under-16’s all the way up to Under-23’s whom she last represented in 2019. She was named in the Dutch squad for the 2018 FIFA Under-20’s Women’s World Cup, where the Netherlands advanced to the knockout stages before being eliminated in the quarter-finals by England.
The 26-year-old will now join up with Leanne Crichton’s side as her midfield options are strengthened further as they prepare to continue their SWPL campaign with a match against Aberdeen this Sunday.
Speaking after signing for Rangers, Sabajo said: “It feels unreal, I am happy to be here and happy to start with the girls.
“Initial reaction? I was happy because this is a big club with big history, my first reaction was this is cool.
“It is a big club, for me personally it is good to hopefully get minutes and play, feel comfortable and just develop my game here.”
