TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has recently met with former England boss Gareth Southgate.
At the hands of Brentford on Saturday, Man United slumped to their third defeat of the new Premier League season.
In total, Ruben Amorim now has just nine wins from 33 Premier League games in charge of the club, and United are showing very little sign of progress on the pitch.

As things stand, United do want to stick with the former Sporting CP manager, but club officials are growing concerned about performances.
United spent big on the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko in the summer, but Amorim’s squad still looks like one that doesn’t fit his 3-4-3 system.

That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has now held fresh talks with Gareth Southgate in lieu of the situation.
It’s understood that the former England manager is now keen to return to management.
Ratcliffe considered Southgate when United first appointed Amorim in November of last year.

And although Amorim retains the club’s support, there is now increasing pressure on the Portuguese manager behind the scenes.
Director of Football Jason Wilcox is keen to see Amorim succeed at the club, a manager who had enjoyed so much success with Sporting.
In that regard, United’s upcoming games at Old Trafford are seen as crucial for their current boss.
United hadn’t anticipated a change in manager, but results will ultimately decide the direction the club moves in.
Wayne Rooney says Man United have ‘got worse’ under Ruben Amorim
In line with United’s concerns about performances under Amorim, club legend Wayne Rooney recently said that things had ‘got worse’ since he came in.
Speaking on ‘The Wayne Rooney Show’, Rooney was pretty blunt about the lack of progress under Amorim since Erik ten Hag was relieved of his duties.
Rooney said: “I think after last year when Ten Hag got sacked and Ruben came in, we’re hearing how they’re going to play and it is going to change.
“I think if the manager is honest with himself, it has got worse.”
Of course, it would therefore be interesting to hear Rooney’s thoughts on Southgate potentially coming in, a manager he’s watched succeed with England.
In terms of his club career, Southgate managed Middlesbrough for 151 games, yielding a points per match ratio of 1.21.
And on his part, Amorim boasts a 1.35 points per match ratio in charge of United.
