‘World-class’ Anthony Gordon lauded by John Terry and Newcastle teammates after Benfica win

Anthony Gordon was on the scoresheet again as Newcastle United beat Benfica in the Champions League group stages.

It was a superb night for Eddie Howe and his Newcastle side, who emerged 3-0 victors over the Portuguese powerhouses, with St James’ Park bouncing.

The Newcastle wingers were in inspired form, and Gordon received plenty of plaudits for his display.

An unlikely source of praise came from Chelsea and Premier League legend John Terry, who commented on Gordon’s Instagram post. The post read: “UCL nights at SJP.”

Terry made sure to make his feelings clear about Gordon, writing the following message to the England international: “Some performance mate. Taking people on. Work rate. So good to watch.”

Gordon has impressed many this season, but his European showing last night proved once again that he’s in the conversation as a world-class star.

Gordon was tipped to be a Champions League superstar, and he’s certainly living up to that title.
